Aluminium Composite Panels (ACP) have become the material of choice for architects and designers seeking a perfect balance of aesthetics, durability, and cost efficiency — fundamentally reshaping how we think about building envelopes.
An ACP sheet consists of two thin aluminium layers bonded to a non-aluminium core — typically polyethylene or a fire-retardant mineral compound. This sandwich construction delivers exceptional rigidity at a fraction of the weight of solid metal, enabling large-format, flat, or curved cladding solutions that were previously impractical or prohibitively expensive.
At Designext, we have designed and executed ACP elevation solutions across offices, retail spaces, hospitals, and premium residential projects throughout Chennai and Tamil Nadu. The versatility of the material never ceases to inspire us.
Key Applications of ACP Cladding
🏬 Commercial & Retail : Brand-led storefronts, mall facades, and showrooms benefit from ACP’s printable surfaces and consistent colour across large areas.
🏢 Office Buildings : Curtain wall systems and rain-screen cladding create sleek, modern corporate identities while improving thermal performance.
🏠 Residential Elevation : Contemporary villas and apartment complexes achieve striking kerb appeal with wood-finish, stone-look, or solid colour ACP.
🏥 Hospitals & Institutions : Fire-retardant A2-grade panels meet safety codes while delivering hygienic, low-maintenance exterior finishes for critical facilities.
The Designext Installation Process
A well-executed ACP facade is the result of disciplined process — from site survey to final inspection.
01 — Site Survey & Facade Analysis
We assess wall dimensions, structural anchoring points, wind-load requirements, and existing waterproofing to define the correct sub-structure specification.
02 — Design & Panel Layout
Our design team produces panel layout drawings, joint patterns, and 3D visualisations so you approve the look before a single panel is cut.
03 — Fabrication & Routing
Panels are CNC-routed and brake-pressed to exact dimensions in our Chennai workshop, ensuring perfect corner returns and consistent joint widths.
04 — Aluminium Sub-structure Installation
Galvanised aluminium channels and brackets are anchored to the facade. We use approved fixing systems rated for wind pressures specific to each project location.
05 — Panel Fixing & Sealing
Panels are mechanically fixed or cassette-clipped to the sub-structure. All joints are finished with UV-stable, weatherproof silicone sealant.
06 — Quality Inspection & Handover
Final inspection covers alignment, joint consistency, surface finish, and watertightness. We issue a workmanship warranty and maintenance guide at handover.
Finish & Colour Options
Modern ACP comes in an extraordinary range of finishes: solid RAL colours, metallic and brushed, wood grain, carbon fibre, stone texture, mirror, and even custom printed graphics. PVDF-coated panels offer 25+ years of colour retention even in Chennai’s harsh coastal climate.
At Designext, we work with premium panel brands including Alubond, Aludecor, Alstone, and 3A Composites — selecting the right product for each project’s budget, height, and performance requirements.
